A 98-year-old woman named Evelyn had her license taken from her, and not because she was a poor driver, but rather because of her advanced age. According to Little Things, she would take matters into her own hands to get her license back when she came across a friend in need.
Evelyn’s friend, Joyce, is a resident in the same retirement community, and became concerned that she would have to move. The bus that used to take seniors in the community to the store was no longer an option, and Joyce had no other way to get around. Evelyn became determined to help her friend, and took it upon herself to press the issue regarding her license.
The 98-year-old woman would retake and successfully pass the driving test, proving the doubters at the local DMB wrong. She was able to get back on the road and gain back some of her independence, and be able to help a friend in need as well. Evelyn will gladly take Joyce back and forth to the grocery store, and Joyce no longer has to worry that she’ll be forced to move.
