To let children try to do things for themselves is good for their development, but it can also be quite difficult to let go sometimes. And sometimes it can also be our worst nightmare when accidents happen without our watch.
Kaya Langmead was visiting a McDonald’s over lunchtime on a Thursday afternoon when her mom, Nicole, decided to let the 4-year-old little girl venture into the bathroom alone.
Believing Kaya was ‘old enough’ to go to the bathroom all by herself, Nicole decided to wait outside the restroom.
“We was at McDonald’s and mom let me go to the toilet like a big girl,” Kaya recalled. Unfortunately, it wouldn’t be a good experience for the growing girl.
“My daughter was left in tears and the skin was ripped off the back of her legs,” Nicole said following the incident on Thursday afternoon.
“She came out in tears and told me that she had become stuck to the seat.”
Police say they are interested in talking to the girls who were in the restroom ahead of Kaya. They were described as being between the ages of 16 and 18, one with long, blonde hair, the other with shoulder-length brown hair.
Nicole said that since the incident, her daughter has become traumatized. The distraught mother, who lives in Exeter, England, spoke directly to the teens who pranked her daughter in a Facebook post:
“To the two young blonde girls that thought it would be hilarious to put super glue on the disabled and baby changing toilet in McDonalds, I just want you to know that I’m still having to console my four year old daughter who was unfortunate enough to use the toilet after your little prank. The backs of her legs and bum are red raw after the glue had stuck her to the seat and she has been in tears on and off since. I hope you’re proud of yourselves. Your families must be so proud.”
With this, many readers expressed outrage over the incident, calling for the teens to be punished, according to Opposing Views:
“Disgusting girls who put glue on the toilet seat!!!! Poor little girl who endured the pain with skin ripped off on the back of her legs….hope there was videotaping when the two girls who did this came out of the bathroom…they need to feel the pain this innocent child endured!” one reader commented on the site’s Facebook page.
“Those girls that were laughing are the guilty party. And they should be put in jail. And sentence for a very long time. Due to the fact that it was premeditated. And the nature of the crime cruel barbaric,” another added.
Kaya Langmead’s story serves as a reminder that evil walks among us, so check your seat before you sit down. You don’t know what some cruel person could have done.
Keep a closer eye on your children. Yes, a child should be able to use the restroom without being injured, but sadly, that’s not the reality we live in today. There are people who intentionally seek to harm others, and shockingly, they think it’s “funny.”
