Two police officers in the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office went above and beyond to help a family.
In Cocoa, Florida, Deputy Sean Cronin, and Field Training Officer Anthony Gonnelly noticed that a mother and her family were going through hard times during a stop for a minor traffic violation.
At that point, the officers took it upon themselves to reach out to our Community Services Team to solicit help to find a new car seat for a family who has an infant child.
After receiving the call for assistance, Tonja Tucker and Valerie Sauro of our Community Services Unit worked together to locate a car seat and then went shopping for groceries for Mom and her family.
Deputy Cronin, FTO Gonnelly, Tonja, and Val then delivered the items to the family later that afternoon so that a family in need could have some help during a tough time in their lives.
While the team was able to get the Car Seat donated, they took the money from their own pockets to pay for the groceries because of their compassion for others and because they each realize that at any given moment in life it could be one of us that experiences a tough time.
In a Facebook post, Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey said that he was proud of his officers, “It is actions like this and many others that make me so proud of the men and women of the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office who do everything they can to protect our community.”
With this, folks online praised the officers’ good deed:
“Thank you to the deputies and the CSU team for doing the right thing and helping someone in need,” one poster wrote in response to the good deed.
“Thanks to very these awesome deputies!!!” another commented. “Just shows what they are made of…Very compassionate and caring!!”
“So proud to be a resident of Brevard County where our sheriff’s dept is always doing great things for our community,” another posted.
On this day when many people seem so interested in just taking care of themselves, these officers took care of an entire family!
