The Kansas City Chiefs faced off against the Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC championship game Sunday. Naturally, the game was prefaced with the traditional presentation of the colors and the singing of the National Anthem. Performing “The Star-Spangled Banner” was Grammy Award-winner Ashanti.
However, as Ashanti began singing, it became clear that something was wrong. Her microphone cut in and out, interrupting the performance.
Arrowhead Stadium staff then scrambled to correct the technical issue, but Chiefs fans put on an incredible display of patriotism and unity. While Ashanti belted out powerful notes, the crowd joined her in singing the National Anthem. Despite the microphone problem, “The Star-Spangled Banner” echoed beautifully through the stadium on the voices of proud Americans.

DailyWire reported:
Cincinnati came back from an 18-point first-half deficit, tying the largest comeback in Championship Game history, beating the Kansas City Chiefs on a walk-off overtime field goal from Evan McPherson.
It’s the first Super Bowl appearance for the Bengals since 1989.
Just like in their divisional matchup against the Buffalo Bills, the Chiefs won the overtime coin toss. But this OT would end differently, with quarterback Patrick Mahomes throwing an interception on third-and-10, allowing Cincinnati to win with just a field goal.
Nicole Raviv, the national anthem singer for the New York Islanders who experienced a similar situation at a game last year, has since intentionally included the crowd in the singing of the national anthem more often.

Other fans shared their praise.
“Listen to the crowd singing the national anthem to help Ashanti,” Twitter user Kathy Lynn tweeted. “How awesome is this.”
