The thing about a veteran that people who have never been in the military don’t understand, it is that we have already experienced the worst day of our life at one point or another.
So if a situation comes up that someone thinks is the worst day ever, we give a silent chuckle and move on with our day.
We also know how precious that life is, we also know certain values that are missing in society today.
Things like honesty and standing up for those who cannot stand up for themselves.
Take people on the wrong side of a bad customer service interaction for example. If you are the employee in a bad customer service interaction, chances are you are getting an epic amount of grief for something that might not be your fault. Hell, you might get fired if you say something.
I can’t tell you how many times I have seen a veteran stick up for someone that was on the wrong end of a bad customer service experience.
Most often, a veteran will be more than willing to do a dirty job, because we have already done the dirtiest job we have ever done.
Take for instance the case of a man named Demario Davis. Demario was in a South Carolina Walmart recently when a complete nutjob started waving around a knife at employees and other customers.
Everyone took off running, and justifiably so. It’s common knowledge that you don’t do a job you don’t know how to do. Well, the problem for this goon with the knife is that Demario knew how to do a particular job.
He knew how to take this thug down and hard.
Demario was able to tackle the guy and get him to lose grip of the knife before he actually was able to hurt anyone.
That’s the thing about us veterans is that we will go into danger to help someone that needs it.
There were a lot of people in that Walmart that could have been hurt really bad, thankfully there was someone there that was able to stop it.
We need more people like Demario.
