With the majority of Democrats expressing a positive view of socialism, I (The Analytical Economist) was admittedly surprised when Bernie’s momentum began to peter out.
As the Santa Claus candidate, he’s promising what most liberals have wanted all along, yet the establishment candidate is trouncing Bernie with a 750 delegate lead.
Bernie himself has been grasping at straws to explain away his losses. According to The Hill, Bernie has one explanation: voter turnout.
Confronted with poor primary performances in states with higher populations of low-income people, Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders said his losses are due to those people not voting.
“Well, because poor people don’t vote. I mean, that’s just a fact. That’s a sad reality of American society,” Sanders said in an interview with MSNBC’s “Meet the Press” set to air in full on Sunday.
It is true the poor have the lowest turnout rates, but Hillary Clinton still won 16 out of 17 primaries in the States with the highest income disparities between the rich and poor.
