NFL protesting has caused a plummet in numbers and advertisers are officially threatening to distance themselves if protests continue to be aired.
NBCUniveral issued a statement that makes it very clear whose side the country is choosing when it comes to NFL players vs. President Trump on wether or not standing during the national anthem should be mandatory. Wishing to protest American ‘oppression’ is the right Americans have thanks to the men and women who protect the American way of life, so to choose a method of protesting that is a direct smack in their face is completely unacceptable and President Trump isn’t the only one who feels that way.
Polls have consistently shown a majority of Americans side with the president on the issue. In September, nearly two-thirds of Americans — 64 percent — believe athletes should stand during the national anthem.
Brands advertising at NBCUniversal have — much like the viewers who are turning their TVs off during NFL games — issued an ultimatum: Quit covering players’ protests or we’ll yank our ads.
Linda Yaccarino, chairwoman of advertising sales at NBCUniversal, shared the no-holds-barred message during an interview Friday at a New York event hosted by ad agency R/GA, Business Insider reported.
“Marketers have said, ‘We will not be part of the NFL if you continue covering it,’” Yaccarino said, noting no advertisers have pulled their ads yet, though brands have suggested that could change.
Papa John’s recently said it is “disappointed the NFL and its leadership did not resolve” the controversy over players’ protest during the patriotic ceremony. Papa John’s founder and CEO John Schnatter said the protest has hurt the restaurant chain’s sales.
NFL players don’t deserve to make millions of dollars while simultaneously insulting fans and veterans of this great nation. Either come to that conclusion and shape up or the results are only going to decline further.
If these NFL Players really want to make a difference, go out into your communities and help those people who are so oppressed. Be the example kids can respect instead of a bunch of whiners. You haven’t done anything to help anyone by kneeling during our national anthem. I haven’t watched a game this year because of this idiotic, despicable form of protest.
I hope, as much as I loved my Cowboys,. I hope they realize they are acting like spoiled idiots. Protest on your time , NOT ON YOUR JOB. I HAVE NOT WATCHED ONE GAME SINCE THEY STARTED THIS BS. STOP, GROW UP AND RESPECT YOUR COUNTRY, OUR PRESIDENT, YOUR FANS AND TEACH THE KIDS IN TROUBLE BY EXAMPLE NOT BY FOOLISH ACTS. GO TO AREAS AND HELP NOT HURT.
