The TV show featuring Dog the Bounty Hunter is now canceled. Beth and Duane Chapman had Dog and Beth canceled not because of reduced popularity, but because they feel there is a greater need than running down fugitives from the law. The couple says the cash bail bonds industry is under attack, which in part means the entire bounty hunter industry is under attack in the United States. As a solution, Beth announced her candidacy for the presidency of the Professional Bail Agents of the United States (PBUS).

“Our industry is under attack,” Beth explained. “There are bail reform movements springing up across the country that would end the cash bail systems. This would be a disaster.”
Speaking to InTouch Weekly, Beth Chapman said she will now be on the hunt for finding any way from preventing the bail reform movement from implementing new laws where the cash bail bonds system is tossed out. For example, California’s bail bonds system was recently declared unconstitutional, yet the PBUS has not challenged the legal system in the courts.

OMGosh!! I love these people and their show..I lived in Mexico for many years,point being, I returned to States to be SO impressed with this couple and their family..my family made fun of me, the Chapman family have problems yes, but work and live together no matter what..I truly wish them well..will miss seeing them and show!!! Bless you, guys…

There needs to be some reform on bonding. Bobby Brown of Colorado Springs Co. posted my bond for 5 grand cash. After i appeared in court all but 350.00 dollars was giving back to me. I was glad to have his help my charges were dropped and all was good just a bad memory. Now in Ohio just this year once again i needed a Bondsman i called Fat Boy’s Bail Bond of Martins Ferry Ohio. I was charged with 3 trumped up felony charges. My Mother had to sign for me my bond was 17 grand I only had 1200.00 dollars and my poor Mom had to sign for the rest holding her responsible. He said that he explained everything real well and that she understood but she didn’t. She was involved in my case in Co. and help me arrange bail. She was under the impression that we would get the money back after I went to trail just like before. I was arraigned less than 48 hours later and the charges were reduced to a misdemeanor disturbing the peace. The bail bonds is keeping all the money and not giving a dime back. He acted as though he was doing my Mother a huge favor by helping me. The only person he helped was himself. My poor son was a victim of police misconduct also that day with me. It ended up costing me 3400.00 dollars that I don’t have for charges that we didn’t do now I am looking at bankruptcy and I still owe the bondsman. This is just wrong for someone to be able to take advantage of a bad situation. This bondsman even told my Mother he knew the charges would be dropped. He could of advised my Mom to not make bond instead of being greedy. After being wrongfully charged them robbed by a bailsman has left a bad taste in my mouth.
