Here’s the Interview the Oregon Standoff Spokesman Gave THE DAY BEFORE He Was Killed

While details remain sketchy and accusations abound, two things are clear: Ammon Bundy, leader of the Oregon standoff, was arrested Tuesday night, and spokesman Robert “Lavoy” Finicum was shot and killed.

This interview with Finicum was conducted the day before he was killed.

He gained fame for an earlier interview he did from beneath a blue tarp, while reportedly holding a shotgun on his lap. Along with his wife, he cared for 11 foster children.

In the initial interview, which was conducted shortly after the occupation of the wildlife refuge in Oregon began, he said he was not afraid to die:

I have been raised in the country all my life. I love dearly to feel the wind on my face. To see the sun rise, to see the moon. I have no intention of spending any of my days in a concrete box.

He said he’d rather be killed than be arrested:

Absolutely … I have no intention of spending any of my days in a concrete box. There are things more important than your life and freedom is one of them. I’m prepared to defend freedom.
