Audio recording has recently been released to the public, and it is causing quite the stir. Captured during an interview, President Barack Obama recalled learning that 10 American troops had been captured, and his response just may be enough to make you lose it completely.
The conversation was recorded during a recent interview between Politico reporter Glenn Thrush and Obama regarding the 2016 presidential election. However, the conversation took a turn when Obama sought to complain about how difficult his presidential duties were.
Hitting on the point that he was forced to focus on many different things at once, the conversation geared towards the recent incident where Iran took 10 U.S. sailors prisoner. As heard amid the interview, Obama recalled:
“This job right here, you don’t have the luxury of just focusing on one thing,” Obama said. “You’ll recall, I was sitting at my desk there just a little over a week ago, writing my convention speech, my State of the Union speech, and somebody walks in and says, ‘A couple of our sailors wandered into Iranian waters.’”
Personally, I’m not quite sure what part of that is funny, but I can’t help but wonder if Obama felt the same way when he originally heard the news. The job of the president is no easy task, but for a president to complain about it during his 8th year is beyond ridiculous.
He knew – or at least should have known – what the job entailed before he ran for the position, so whining about it only makes him sound weak. Secondly, it should never be thought of as funny or comical when our troops are taken prisoner by another nation.
