Republicans Board Trump Train, Set Groundwork For HUGE Finish

The Trump Train came barreling out of the station full speed ahead, on bright and shiny procedural rules engineered by Republican Senators to keep everything on the fast track. Full speed ahead — next stop, President Donald Trump’s exoneration.

The best part about it is that Democrats are clearing the way. Stunned by the legal “Answer” filed by the White House, all Democrats could come up with was gibberish in response.

Even CNN, tilted so far left that their building should fall over, accepts the foregone conclusion. Their only hope now is that the Democrats can get their unfounded innuendo into the record ahead of the upcoming election. “Because everybody accepts that the President is almost certain to be acquitted, each smaller battle in the trial takes on extra political importance,” they write.

They’re “furious” about the way Republican Senators are crafting the rules. According to CNN, the proceedings will be moving too fast for them to jump on like hobos, with their unfounded lies and outright propaganda.

“Democrats are furious at Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s plan for the trial, which will force House impeachment managers to deliver their case in two marathon 12-hour sessions that could stretch into the middle of the night.”

That, they admit, “could lead to the President being acquitted within a matter of days.”

By “rushing the trial through,” Republicans are blocking the usurpers from getting their “witnesses and documents” out to the general public in time for the elections. “Senator McConnell’s resolution stipulates that key facts be delivered in the wee hours of the night simply because he doesn’t want the American people to hear them,” Minority Leader Chuck Schumer whines.

Working through the weekend, the White House defense team filed the President’s formal “Answer.” It amounts to what the legal world would call a “motion for summary judgment.” Democrats made the fatal mistake of treating it like a harmless “motion to dismiss” in their reply to the Answer, called a “Replication.”

Without a single legal citation to explain how their allegations specifically are “crimes,” their document amounts to a “word salad” of totally unfounded speculation, heavy on the dressing. In true progressive fashion, instead of answering the question asked, they answer another question that suits their agenda.

“The House further states that Article I properly alleges an impeachable offense under the Constitution, is not subject to a motion to dismiss, and should be considered and adjudicated by the Senate sitting as a Court of Impeachment,” Democrats write. It may not be subject to a motion to dismiss but this is a whole different critter.

The White House asked, which specific crimes did the President allegedly commit? If Democrats can’t name something specific, and the statute or law that was violated, then there simply is no case. That would be equivalent to asking for a Summary Judgment, which is a ruling that the case doesn’t have a legal leg to stand on.

Democrats chose to sidestep, and replied to what would effectively be a motion to dismiss. Those are legal mosquitoes that get swatted without effort. To defeat a dismissal, all you have to show is that there are facts at issue. Nobody denies that Republicans and Democrats are looking at the same set of facts and seeing two entirely different things. What matters is, if the facts turn out to be interpreted in favor of the Democrats, does it make a difference? If it isn’t a crime, then the answer is no.

All Democrats managed to do is admit that they’re trying to remove a sitting president from office, simply because they disagree with the way he legitimately does his job. That, and the fact that they know they don’t stand the slightest chance of defeating him in the upcoming election.

If Democrats really had a case, they would say Trump committed the crime of blah in violation of (fill in the blank with the appropriate law or statute) and here is the evidence that supports that. They don’t. Instead, they spew forth their talking points just to get them on the record once again.

Republicans are treating these proceedings with the seriousness they deserve. The President has been accused of committing crimes, yet nobody can say which crimes. This farce needs to be brought to an end before further damage to our Republic has been done.
