The Transgender Olympic Weightlifter Just Got With With MAJOR Karma!

Laurel Hubbard the first Transgender weightlifter finally got to compete at the Tokyo Olympics but her groundbreaking debut didn’t quite go as planned.

Hubbard was eliminated after failing to record a single lift in three attempts in Monday’s over-87-kilogram super-heavyweights. Hubbard failed to lift 120kg on her first attempt, and on the second attempt, she lifted a very shaky 125kg and in her third attempt, also at 125 kg, resulted in the bar going over her head, resulting in an unceremonious end to her competition.

The announcer said, that is “the end of Laurel Hubbard,” Hubbard then made a heart gesture to the audience with her hands before leaving the competition arena.

Hubbard’s inclusion in the Games has proven to be a divisive topic, given that the 43-year-old, a biological male and formerly competed against male weightlifters until she began her gender transition at the age of 35.

The decision to allow her to compete among women – because she has testosterone levels below the threshold required by the International Olympic Committee – has sparked plenty of debate.

According to a study published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine, Many female athletes and some famed feminists have spoken out against separating sports based on gender identity instead of biological sex, highlighting how females have lost out on opportunities because of the biological advantages males have over females, even post-trans hormone therapy,

Anna Vanbellinghen, a female weightlifter, has spoken out about the issue, calling competing against Hubbard “a bad joke.”

Vanbellinghem said, “I understand that for sports authorities nothing is as simple as following your common sense and that there are a lot of impracticalities when studying such a rare phenomenon, but for athletes, the whole thing feels like a bad joke.”

Hubbard, though, has had support from the Olympics.

International Olympic Committee (IOC) medical and science director Dr. Richard Budgett last week praised the trans weightlifter and claimed: “everyone agrees that trans women are women.”

“To put it in a nutshell, the IOC had a scientific consensus back in 2015; there are no IOC rules or regulations around transgender participation. That depends on each international federation.” Budgett explained.

The doctor said, “So Laurel Hubbard is a woman and is competing under the rules of her federation, and we have to pay tribute to her courage and tenacity in actually competing and qualifying for the Games.”

Budgett claimed, “There are lots of aspects of physiology and anatomy, and the mental side, that contribute to an elite performance. It’s very difficult to say, ‘yes, she has an advantage because she went through male puberty,’ when there’s so many other factors to take into account.”

He added, “It’s not simple.”

“Each sport has to make their own assessment depending on the physiology of that sport so that they can ensure there is fair competition, but also the inclusion of everyone – whether they’re male or female – so they are able to take part in the sport they love.”
