WHOA: Is the IRS Trying To Tell People To Pay Back Their Stimulus Payments…

The IRS targeting innocent Americans by demanding repayment of federal stimulus checks exposes the government’s incompetence and overreach, particularly under Democratic leadership.

It’s alarming to see how the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has been targeting innocent, hardworking Americans by demanding they repay their federal stimulus checks, as demonstrated by the case of Natalie Bonelli. This is yet another example of government incompetence and overreach that plagues our nation, especially under the watchful eye of the Democratic party.

Natalie, like many other Americans, received a distressing letter from the IRS, asking her to return her $600 stimulus payment, along with $3.12 in interest. Although it turned out to be a mistake in Natalie’s case, this incident highlights the ongoing threat faced by countless citizens who received stimulus checks under the Trump administration.

Despite her attempts to contact the IRS for answers, Natalie received no assistance, illustrating the inefficiency and unresponsiveness of our bloated government organizations. She expressed her frustration, saying, “I don’t agree with it, and I can’t find anyone to help me actually do something about it.”

Natalie had been living in Brooklyn, New York, when she received her first stimulus check, but later moved back to Boston. Her second stimulus check was mistakenly sent to her former address in Brooklyn, which she never received. She correctly followed IRS instructions and claimed the missing payment on her 2020 federal tax return. However, the IRS shockingly demanded repayment for the stimulus check she never received.

Although the IRS suggests calling them to request a payment trace for situations like Natalie’s, she experienced nothing but endless, unproductive calls. She lamented, “I never got an answer. I could never get to someone who could actually help me.”

With an unreasonable deadline imposed by the IRS for repayment, Natalie and others like her are left with inadequate time to resolve the issue. The IRS spokesperson’s advice to fill out Form 3911 for a payment trace does little to address the fundamental problem of government incompetence and lack of support for the citizens they serve.

Natalie is just one example of the numerous individuals who may be dealing with this bureaucratic nightmare. She rightfully questions whether someone illegally cashed her stimulus check and expects the IRS to provide her with that information. She states, “I can’t be the only person on the planet who didn’t get one of the payments and can’t find out why.”
