In Obama’s ridiculous Town Hall last night, Obama slammed the NRA and all those who agree with the organization, calling them “conspiracy theorists.”
According to Infowars, Obama tried to downplay “the notion that we are creating a plot to take everybody’s guns away so that we can impose martial law” as a “conspiracy” being pushed on the country by conservatives.
The president was responding to a question by retired NASA astronaut Mark Kelly, who said gun control critics have warned that expanding background checks for gun buyers would “lead to a registry, which will lead to confiscation, which will lead to a tyrannical government.”
Here’s how Obama responded:
OBAMA: Now, there’s a long history of that, that’s in our DNA, you know? The United States was born suspicious of some distant authority…
ANDERSON COOPER, CNN: … now, let me just jump in here, is it fair to call it a conspiracy…
PRESIDENT OBAMA: … well, yeah…
COOPER: … because a lot of people really believe this deeply, that they just don’t…
OBAMA: … no…
COOPER: … they just don’t trust you.
OBAMA: I’m sorry, Cooper, yes. It is fair to call the conspiracy, what are you saying? Are you suggesting that the notion that we are creating a plot to take everybody’s guns away so that we can impose martial law…
COOPER: … not everybody, but there’s certainly a lot of…
OBAMA: … but a conspiracy? Yes, that is a conspiracy! I would hope that would agree with that.
(APPLAUSE)
OBAMA: Is that controversial? Except on some website…
The website he is referring to is Infowars, a conservative site that has never been afraid to call Obama out. Go figure!
