Liberals Are Trying To Push A Gay Marriage Law Through Without….

Democrats feel compelled to act following Justice Thomas’s opinion urging the court to “reconsider” the decision to legalize same-sex marriage nationwide.

Democrats are now introducing legislation to codify the legality of same-sex marriage at the federal level.

And with all the machinery working double time to influence the vote, the Democrat-controlled lower house was able to secure enough votes to pass a bill recognizing same-sex marriages at the federal level.

The House voted 267-157 on Tuesday, in favor of same-sex marriage.

Forty-seven Republicans joined all Democrats in voting for the bill, named the Respect for Marriage Act after House GOP leadership announced that it would not be whipping rank-and-file lawmakers to oppose it.

The Gateway Pundit reported:

The Respect for Marriage Act would repeal a leftover law still on the books from the Clinton era that defines marriage as a heterogeneous relationship between man and woman. The 1996 law, the Defense of Marriage Act, was sidelined by Obergefell v. Hodges, which established the rights of same-sex couples to marry nationwide, a landmark case for gay rights.

The Respect for Marriage Act would also provide legal protections for interracial marriages by prohibiting any state from denying out-of-state marriage licenses and benefits based on sex, race, ethnicity, or national origin.

Democrats are hoping to make this an issue in the upcoming midterm elections. They can’t run on anything else after they destroyed the economy, border, and US foreign policy.

The bill now heads to the Senate, where 10 Republican votes are needed to overcome the filibuster threshold. However, it is not clear if the legislation will pass in the evenly divided Senate.

Senate majority leader Chuck Schumer said he was “going to look at everything that we can do to deal with these issues” after the Court’s decision in Dobbs.
