When a motorcyclist suffered a near-fatal accident, doctors gave him only a 10 percent chance to pull through – and recommended that his wife unplug his life support. Instead, she decided to take matters into her own hands.
And months later, her defiance turned into a miracle.
Matthew Davis and his wife, Danielle Davis, had only been married for seven months when tragedy hit. While riding his motorcycle, Matthew was hit by a car, sending him straight not only to the hospital but also into a coma.
After examining his situation, his doctor told Danielle that about 90% of patients with the same injury don’t survive. He said if it were him, he’d pull the plug. But the loving wife refused to take that as truth.
Deciding that taking him home became the only option, Danielle took care of her husband without professional aid. But she never gave up. And after 3 months, her prayers were answered when Matthew woke up from his coma!
It was bitter-sweet for Danielle, however. Matthew survived against all odds, but due to brain damage, all memories of his wife and his life before the accident vanished. That realization hurt Danielle, but it never broke their spirits.
However, since then, they have spent all their time together and he has fought to regain his speech and ability to walk with Danielle supporting him all the way. Although he doesn’t remember their courtship, he told media outlets, “I”m sure glad I married her.”
In a world that may seem dark, cold, and hopeless, there are stories like this that really warm my heart.
Partly because Danielle never stopped fighting for her husband and showed what true love is, and partly because Matthew did everything to heal and get his life back when the odds were against him.
One thing is for sure, this couple’s devotion to each other has worked miracles!
