A middle school teacher in Louisiana is accused of sexually abusing a 15-year-old boy at her home while her own child was home.
34-year-old Northwestern Middle School science teacher Ellarea Silva turned herself into police after allegations surfaced that she was carrying on a sexual affair with a 15-year-old student. Silva and the student had sex eight or nine times, according to the allegations, all at Silva’s home, and all while her child was present in the home.
The boy alleged that the relationship became physical before the summer of 2019, according to the affidavit. He allegedly claimed that at one point, he brought him to her home without his parents’ permission, and gave him a pink E-cigarette vaping device that contained THC (marijuana).
Silva is also accused of sending the student nude photos and videos of herself. Northwestern Middle School, which is located in Zachary, Louisiana, placed Silva on administrative leave on January 24th.
In a Facebook post, the Zachary Police Department (ZPD) said:
“On 01/24/2020 the Zachary Police Department became aware of an allegation regarding the sexual abuse of a minor. An extensive joint investigation conducted by The Zachary Police Department and The East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office followed. At the conclusion of this investigation, a warrant was drafted for the arrest of Northwestern Middle School teacher, Ella Silva [Ellarea Silva]. Probable cause was found and on 02/06/2020 Silva was arrested and booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison for violating LA R.S. 14:81 Indecent Behavior with a Juvenile,14:80 Felony Carnal Knowledge of a Juvenile, and 14:43.3 Oral Sexual Battery.”
The post added that detectives were requesting that parents of students who may have had contact with Silva to talk to their children about their interactions with her and contact ZPD detectives at 225-654-9393 if they believe their child was victimized.
Silva is currently being held in East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on a bond of $225,000.
