Thanks to social media, we can now see how McDonald’s kitchen workers go about making the McRib Sandwich.

It’s now up to you to decide if you want to eat one.

The McDonald’s McRib is a polarizing sandwich, for sure. There are many who love it and there are many who find it to be distasteful.

For better or for worse, viewers are taking in the process and the takes are flying fast and furious. A video of the process was shared on Twitter and of course, people wasted no time expressing their pure repulsion at what they had seen. We find ourselves wondering if anyone who would once have consumed one of these sandwiches has changed their mind.

A video of how the McRib magic happens was first posted by YouTuber Stephen Patula, the owner and operator of a McDonald’s franchise in Ohio, according to his LinkedIn profile. He regularly posts about how stuff at the fast-food behemoth is made. Clips from that video then went viral.

In the viral McRib clip, Patula made the seasonal sandwich, starting with frozen rib patties that get bathed in McDonald’s proprietary barbecue sauce.  After that, he places a sauced patty on the bun and the entire thing in a package.

The video, which was first posted in late October, has since garnered almost 2 million views and received more than 1,200 comments.

This has grossed out some, for sure. But others have defended the process as nothing more than a typical day in a McDonald’s kitchen. The McRib isn’t made any differently than anything else, those who defend the sandwich say.

“Can this even be considered food?” one user tweeted.

One commenter wrote: “The McRib is perhaps McDonald’s most enigmatic and even controversial seasonal sandwich. Reactions to it are a bit extreme. It seems like most people either totally love it or hate it. In this regard, you can call me a ‘McRib extremist’ because I love it and I always look forward to its return!”

Another person remarked: “Luckily, the Mc Rib is a standard item in Germany. Thinking about getting one right now… with extra bacon and double pork on it. Thx for letting us know how it’s made!”

In the event you’re unfamiliar, the McRib is a boneless pork patty that’s shaped like a small rack of ribs. It consists of barbecue sauce, onions, and pickles and is served on a 5.5-inch roll. It first made its debut in 1981 and lasted as a regular menu item until 2004. Since then, it’s been brought back periodically.
